Integrative Medicine

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative Medicine is the thoughtful combination of conventional medicine and complementary therapies- used to help patients return, change direction and move toward a more optimal state of health and healing, wherever they are on their health journey.

An integrative approach includes:

  • Partnership between patient and practitioner
  • Whole person focus
  • Use of evidence-based and time-proven therapies from a variety of complementary practices
  • Understanding the role of conventional care

Practices that may be part of an integrative approach include:

  • Lifestyle changes- with a focus on nutrition, movement, restorative sleep, and stress reduction
  • Appropriate use of dietary supplements- including vitamins, nutrients, herbal or botanical medicines
  • Introduction to appropriate mind-body practices
  • Referral for manual therapies- physical therapy and others
  • Referral for additional complementary therapies- that may include acupuncture, massage, reiki and others
  • Appropriate use of specialty testing to better understand root causes of health issues, in order to offer a broader array of treatment options

Intake Forms

Requesting an Appointment with integrative medicine

A referral from your Primary Care or Speciality Provider is required. If you have a referral your intake form is required before seeing Dr. Fossati.

Your first visit with Dr. Fossati is your longest visit with her—70 minutes total.

  • Dr. Fossati will expertly guide you through the process, introducing you to an integrative approach and gathering information on your health issues, lifestyle, and goals of working together
  • She will provide you with a detailed starting treatment plan at the end of your session- with clear instructions and individualized recommendations designed for you
  • She will order testing and place additional referrals as needed after your appointment

Please note: subsequent visits are 30-40 minutes.

  • Complete and return your intake form several days prior to your visit- so that she may review prior to meeting
  • Include a detailed list of your current supplements- including brands and doses taken
  • Bring any relevant specialty testing in the past 2 years- if previously done with other integrative practitioners

Please arrive EARLY

  • For on-site visits- please plan on arriving 20 minutes early in order to find the office, check in, and be roomed by our medical assistant. Please allow ample time to drive to our office- traffic, construction, and weather can all cause delays and may cut into your appointment time
  • For ZOOM visits- please check your email for a link to your Zoom meeting, and be sure to connect 15 minutes early in case there are any issues. Dr Fossati will admit you to the ZOOM visit at your appointed time (or shortly after)
